Belgrave Heartlands Master Plan

Burns + Nice were appointed to develop a community led master plan for Belgrave in Leicester. Belgrave is a diverse area with an important heritage now enhanced by its Asian community and strong multicultural identity.

The Master Plan developed urban design proposals including a vision for the "Golden Mile" retail area, famous for its jewellery and restaurants, and high quality urban living for the surrounding residential areas which includes over 7500 households.

The Master Plan was developed in close collaboration with Leicester City Council and the Leicester Regeneration Company. It was based on extensive public consultation and included proposals to improve open space, the built environment, pedestrian routes, transport infrastructure and parking. It also addressed the impact of the major new developments in the area including their potential to improve local people's job opportunities.
