Stockwell Masterplan

Burns + Nice assisted the local community and the Stockwell Partnership to develop an area wide public realm regeneration initiative. A master plan was produced following extensive consultation with over 9,500 local residents and businesses including the strong Portuguese and growing Eastern European communities. The Master Plan was formally adopted by Lambeth Council and formed the basis for a successful £6 million URBAN II bid to the European Union.

Specific projects included a traffic calming and environmental enhancement project, a master plan for Larkhall Park to promote regeneration of the 3 hectare park and improvements to two local district centres and Stockwell town centre. These included improvements to the pedestrian environment, a gateway scheme to redesign the Memorial Gardens and a new public space next to Stockwell underground station. All the schemes involved artists working on paving, street furniture, signage, water and lighting elements.
