Millwall Ward Area Improvements

Burns + Nice were commissioned by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and the Pool of London Partnership (PLP) to carry out a comprehensive assessment of potential infrastructure and environmental improvements for the Millwall Ward. The study area is the western side of the Isle of Dogs and is characterised by its unique physical position on a large meander in the River Thames and by its Docklands history.

The purpose of the study was to identify key areas for improvement to benefit the local community, building upon a number of existing proposals. Recommendations included public open space enhancement, upgrading pedestrian and cyclist facilities and improving links to public open spaces, public buildings and other community facilities. The process included a three stage public consultation with over eighty community groups. A number of priority schemes were identified, from which the final project selection for funding was determined.
