Royal Mint Area Improvements

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets and The Pool of London Partnership are working to make significant improvements to key open spaces in the North of the Pool of London area. This project was commissioned by The London Borough of Tower Hamlets and follows on from the PLP Public Realm Framework prepared by Burns + Nice which recommended 74 individual projects in the North Pool area.

The strategy identified eight areas with specific locally distinctive characteristics within the North Pool of London area and this project developed a master plan for the Royal Mint area and prepared detailed designs following consultation for six of the projects proposed.

The project will reconnect and strengthen the historic street pattern, interpret and focus on the archaeology and historic built environment and improve and link key public spaces including the open space within the Royal Mint Estate.

The project is being undertaken in close consultation with local residents, the business community and key stakeholders including Transport for London and the Crown Estate.
