Burns + Nice were commissioned to research and write a best practice guide on the role of urban design when introducing new High Quality Public Transport systems into existing urban environments. A set of urban design principles and best practice guidelines were formulated to assist transport authorities and local government when planning and designing high quality transport infrastructure. The study evaluated a number of case studies including rail, tram and bus operated systems in Europe and North America.
