Concept design and planning consultation for a new overground station

Burns + Nice were appointed by TfL as the lead urban design, architecture and landscape consultant for the Extension of the Gospel Oak to Barking London Overground line which will terminate at a new station in the Barking Riverside development area.

We prepared the urban design and landscape design proposals as well as the visual and townscape assessment for the Governance for Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) 3 Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) submission and, in collaboration with Moxon Architects developed the architectural design proposals for the scheme.

The concept design for the new station and viaduct was developed with new adjoining public realm areas including an extended station square to demonstrate how the station could be integrated with the emerging masterplan for the Barking Riverside development.
