The work builds on the preceding area wide public realm concept designs that Burns + Nice developed earlier for the City of London. At Broadgate the design includes the pedestrianisation of the western half of Liverpool Street and the creation of high quality streetscapes for Eldon, Blomfield and Old Broad Street. At Moorgate the scheme includes new pedestrian areas and improved pedestrian crossing facilities at Moorfields, Moor Place and Moorgate.
Developed in close consultation with key stakeholders and landowners the schemes deliver a public realm that can accommodate the expected increase in pedestrian numbers and provide clean and uncluttered public spaces. The spaces created will completely transform the area for pedestrians and will reflect Liverpool Street’s function as a major transport hub and Principal Shopping Centre within the City of London.
